چکیده

Formaldehyde adsorption on NiO( 100) ultrathin films grown on a Mo(100) surface has been studied using combined thermal desorption and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopies (HREELS). The results show that formaldehyde adsorbs molecularly on NiO( 100) film at 90 K and that concurrent polymerization of formaldehyde occurs extensively in the 90-270 K temperature range. Monomeric formaldehyde is chemisorbed onto Ni cationic sites in the oxygen end-on ~ ' ( 0 ) orientation, leading to a shift of the v(C0) feature to 1650 cm-I. Between 250 and 300 K, an v2(C,0) form of adsorbed formaldehyde is indicated by a v(C0) loss feature a t 1320 cm-I in the HREEL spectrum. All formaldehyde species desorbed below 350 K without decomposition.

Adsorption and decomposition of nickelocene on Ag(100): a high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy and temperature programmed desorption study

Nickelocene adsorption and decomposition on the Ag(1 0 0) surface were studied with temperature programmed desorption and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy. At monolayer coverages on the relatively inert Ag(1 0 0) surface at 175 K, nickelocene physisorbs molecularly, with its molecular axis perpendicular to the surface plane. Nickelocene begins decomposing to adsorbed cyclopenta...

Ammonia adsorption and decomposition on the GaAs ( 100 ) - c ( 8 X 2 ) surface

The effect of ammonia exposure and substrate temperature on the reaction of ammonia with GaAs(lOO)-c(8 x 2) has been studied using temperature programmed desorption (TPD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). TPD data indicate that thermal decomposition of ammonia occurs at moderate temperatures (250 K). Above 250 K, recombinati...

Methanol on O/Mo( 110): specific site for methyl radical formation

The adsorption and decomposition of methanol on the variously oxidized Mo(110) surface has been studied using temperature programmed desorption spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). Distinct degrees of oxidation are distinguished. That giving rise to a two-dimensional surface oxide (up to...

Adsorption of CO on a pseudomorphic palladium monolayer on Mo(l l0)

Adsorption of CO on a Pd monolayer (ML) supported on Mo(ll0) has been studied using low energy electron diffraction (LEED), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). Three ordered CO substructures denoted as (~ Jl) (-21 ~), and (~ ~l) are observed with LEED. The binding energy of CO on the 1.0 ML Pd/Mo(ll0) surface is reduced by 12 ...

Loss Spectroscopy and Temperature Programmed Desorption Spectroscopy

Interactions of ammonia with well-defined NiO( 100) films prepared on Mo( 100) have been investigated using combined high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS)/temperature-programmed esorption (TPD). The results show that ammonia is bonded to the surface cations of NiO(100) via the nitrogen lone pair of the molecules, with an accompanying transfer of electrons to the surface cat...
